This course is intended for people looking to find out what it takes to start being a barista using Specialty Coffee. The course will be a basic introduction to the Specialty Coffee world as well as how to pull an espresso and espresso based drinks, proper milk frothing, grinder adjustments, basic latte art and proper protocol.

10:00-11:00 Introduction to Specialty Coffee and the Barista's role. Theory behind pulling a good espresso, coffee sensory notes, and types of coffees served
11:00-12:00 Cupping coffee: Brazilian cupping, espresso cupping and milk tasting
12:00-12:30 Barista best practices: Keeping workstation clean, customer service
12:30-14:00 Espresso practice time! Calibrating the grinder, pulling the right shot, frothing milk and latte art
14:00-16:00 Free time (lunch)
16:00-17:30 More espresso and Latte practice (Hot chocolate practice as well if desired)
17:30-18:00 Cleaning the espresso machine
18:00-18:45 Filter Coffees: V60, Chemex, Syphon, French Press
18:45-19:00 Clean up and Summary
